A big disadvantage of the CSV data format is the need to control the value separator, depending on regional standards. The user has to perform additional steps to replace separators when working with CSV.
In most cases, a spreadsheet editor is needed to correct the CSV, since the CSV data in a text editor is difficult to read and edit.
A good solution would be to use the tab-separated values files for family catalogs and lookup tables. This is convenient for all regions and users do not have to control the value separator when opening and saving the file. Editing small TSV files is easy to do with a text editor, without the need for a spreadsheet editor.
