Symbolic Filled Region for Shaft (instead of symbolic lines)

Symbolic Filled Region for Shaft (instead of symbolic lines)

We need an easy way to replace symbolic lines for shafts with symbolic filled region. X-cross symbolic lines representation for shafts is not approved in Europe. We need to create a filled region for the shaft, that being the standard approved representation in Europe.

Hello,

Small shafts are sometimes hard to see in a plan view and it would be helpfull if we were able to add a cut pattern in either visibility & graphics overrides or by using a filter. As it is now, that function is "greyed out" for both options. See attached images. I have seen workarounds with opening families but since Revit has a shaft function, autodesk should try to improve the base tool instead.

Regards

Erik

You can use Simbolic lines, when editing the Shaft Boundaries

Yes samuelsanf I am aware of that function but sometimes symbolic lines are not sufficent. Thank you for the tip anyway!

I would place a filled region pattern instead.

In many countries the symbolic representation of wall or floor openings require an all-black hatch (shadow-like) representation, no just crossing symbolic lines. Currently, we are creating this black hatch outside of the Openings command.

It would be much quicker to create black hatching (regions) representations while in the Opening command.

@ipselute Denmark is a part of Europe and we use the cross to indicate piercing hole, in single line for recess:) So not entirely true 🙂
