This has been on my wishlist for quite some time. While I would not want it for sections, which should appear the same on all views, this would be helpful for detail callout/sections where the tail is defining the cut value.
Oh, FYI, if you edit the tail you can get it centered on the section line instead of offset like you have shown. That is one of the first things I did with the OOTB section tails. Having it stretch eliminates multiple detail section types, such as 1/4", 1/2". 1", 2"...etc..etc...
