Sprinkler Head placement - Automatically centered in a tile?

Sprinkler Head placement - Automatically centered in a tile?

Revit knows ceiling types.

Revit knows how to host objects to the ceilings.

So... why can't a simple hosted sprinkler head default to Center-of-Tile?

There are methods to do this in even vanilla AutoCAD, yet it takes 3 or 4 mouse clicks to accomplish this in Revit. Why?

Here's a workaround: Add strong reference planes in the family at a typical ceiling tile spacing (e.g. 2'x2'). That will allow you to snap to these planes on placement while keeping the origin where you want it. Using the array command or Modify\Copy can help populate the rest of the elements on the same host centered on tiles.

Another simple method is to use a Work Plane Grid with a Spacing equal to half of the ceiling tile.

Thanks for the tips -

I'll try each approach on my next project with a "conventional" ceiling.

The current project I'm working on has three angles, varying ceiling heights.
