Split and Modify Walls

Split and Modify Walls

Currently we can Modify a wall where we can unlock the top or bottom of materials and slide the materials to whatever height is needed.  It would be great to be able to split the wall in several locations and be able to adjust as needed for each floor and change materials as Revit already can do by using Split Regions.  For example, I have a 4 story building with an elevator shaft with a wall type that is CMU and furring.  I want to start and stop the furring 6" above the ceiling at each floor.

AND

Allow stacked walls the ability to Modify at top and bottom for each Wall of the stacked wall and make them adjustable in section so we can add different thickness of materials/furring for each floor if needed.  For example, I need 7/8" hat channel furring @ first floor and 6" stud furring @ 2nd floor, etc.

tonnyjun1,

I believe what you'd like to do, can be most simply be done by creating the shaft wall (CMU) as one wall and then the different furring walls as separate walls on each level.  Think of walls in Revit the same way as you would build in the physical world.  The shaft would be one unit and then the floors would go in, then the furring walls would be done later after the floors are in.  After you get the walls placed side by side, then you can join the walls so that doors, windows, etc. will cut both walls.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your reply @Anonymous.  This is what I currently do but I am hoping we could get a more streamline solution.  It seems there is a lot more steps in the "workaround" process of adding furring to another wall.  The wall allows us to adjust the materials on a single height wall but why not add for multistory?
