Snapping mid between 2 points

Snapping mid between 2 points

Snap options in Revit are still insufficient (From ,Mid between points, point filters apparent intersection etc.) Please make them possible. The most wanted for me are 'mid between 2 points' and 'from'. I want to put electrical equipment and lighting fixtures on the right place in one or two clicks.

@dmkuijpers: Just forget of old Autocad habits. Revit works in a different way. Snapping is not that important in Revit.

In Autocad point snapping is a one-time thing. When walls are moved in-place, or ceiling moves on the z-axis, you have to snap again. From point-to-point. Manually. You have to check all distances. Manually.

In Revit you don't have to do that. You can place your equipment in any (approximate) position, then edit the temporary dimensions (the blue ones), change the dimension value, then lock it in place. This way your equipment will be linked to the wall or ceiling. It will automatically move when/if needed. No more second, third, etc snapping needed.

Mid Between 2 Points = Place your equipment in an approximate location. Create 2 dimensions: 1=from left margin to middle of equip, 2=from middle of equip to right margin. An EQ sign will appear near the dimensions. Click on it to activate (the equality constraint). That's it. No matter how the walls will move , the equality constraint will be maintained.

P.S. I know it doesn't seem like much. For a single wall movement the edit take about the same time amount in both Autocad and Revit, but for many edits and revisions (like in large projects) the total amount of time needed to complete the edits is significantly lower in Revit than Autocad. The dimension constraints in Revit makes your work a lot easier. Revit parameters ensure a faster, easier control and reduce accidental errors to minimum.

spare me the "this is not autocad" argument - a useful feature s a useful feature.

and middle between two points without  messing with temporary dimensions certainly is.

The 'Snap Mid-Point Between Two Points' is a very useful new feature, available from a right click context menu however the help section mentions the keyboard shortcut 'S2', has anyone tried this, it doesn't appear to work in my 2022.1.  Any useful thoughts?

Status changed to: Implemented

We are pleased to say that this has been implemented in Revit 2022.1! Thank you for your contribution to improving Revit!
