Select Starting number in text

Auto numbering is great, but we need a feature to be able to either "split" the text box into another column (similar to schedules), or allow us to select a starting number if it is a continuation of a previous list.

Is it possible to have a number scheme like:

3.0.1

3.0.2

3.0.3

3.0.4

We do a lot of government jobs and this is required.
