Sections with a "height clip"

Sections with a "height clip"

Is there was a way to control the height of a section in the view before you actually open the section? Something similar to the “far clip offset” which controls the depth of the section and you can do this before opening the section but there is nothing for the height. For example I have a 50 story building and every time I create and open section it looks like this (attached picture 1) or has anywhere from 4 to 50 levels included in the section (mind of its own). Is there a way to control the height so that if I create a section on level 1 it displays level 1 bottom to level 2 top or even control the height to 10ft opposed to having to manually crop the height down to make 10ft or whatever the height im looking to view. Any feedback would be appreciated.

We experience the same problem. 34 levels, 114m. Section for one room in groundfloor takes all the building.

@duffeyc34 While reading your post I found a solution

1. Create a viewregion with the portion (in height) you want to see in your section.

2. Create your section

3. Select your section in plan view and control by view region

4. Open your section and voilà

Still it would be nice to not have a workaround.

@Anonymous that is a great workaround but not ideal. Appreciate the feedback tho - maybe this post will pick up some steam

so tired of have to use "workarounds" to make this program work as advertised. a parameter setting to cut sections between levels would be phenomenal. for instance, when working in a building with 30 stories, the ability to say cut a section with a far-clip offset of 5' and depth of level 2 to level3 would be fantastic. or even from 100' to 110' would be nice. Sooo tired of having to scale sections down from 750' above the building top level and 400' below the bottom level. tedious waste of my time.
