Section Box Grips Are Too Small

Section Box Grips Are Too Small

I click past those tiny triangular grips all the time!  And people in my firm have asked me multiple times if there's a setting to increase the size.

@Anonymous has another great Idea post about some other issues with Section boxes here, so check that out & give it some votes:  http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/section-box-visualization-more-detail/idi-p/6420368

Just bringing to this forum the voice of crazy architects modelling everything in 3D views... (geniuses for me!).

They were imagining today the possibility of making the section box bigger or smaller in a very dynamic way with the mouse... also going to a top/right/etc... view by clicking quickly once.  The truth is that makes sense for me, I get really lost when I watch them work, the speed they can model in Revit in 3D views is amazing... just slowed down when they have to zoom in and tab to find the exact point where the tiny blue arrows of the section box are.

I just thought that this doesn't exist in another software and can make Revit more unique!:-)

Congrats! We think this is a great idea, so we've decided to add it to our roadmap. Thanks for the suggestion!

This is great news!

Also, aside from making the grips larger, it would help that the face of the box would highlight blue if we hover over the grip (see we immediately see that we're on the right spot). Ideally, that blue plane would stay when moving so we could see where the section cuts the building.

Not sure exactly what you're asking for, but you can click on the View Cube to quickly go to top/right/etc., and you'll be pleased to know that Section Box Grips Are Too Small is accepted (and probably being worked on).

Not very happy with this merge... I wasn't talking about the size of the arrows at all 😞

It would be great if the same treatment were extended to all shape handles in Revit, not just for section boxes.

We are pleased to announce that this has been implemented in the 2018.2 release.  Learn more about the release here: http://blogs.autodesk.com/revit/2017/10/11/revit-2018-2-update/.

Enjoy!

Thanks Harlan,

Would you mind providing a little more info on what the factory did to improve this? It looks like the area immediately around the arrows has been "detuned" so element highlighting isn't so sensitive? Is that right?

Hello Chris,

Did you find a way to increase the size of the section box grips?

I also get other grips and things that are really small and hard to see, such as the lower toolbar.  Has anyone come across this problem?

@Tarek_K  This has still not been properly implemented. The section box grips are still entirely too small. I have great vision and even I find it hard to control. Can you please look into this again?

I'm working in v2023 and 2024 - the Grips are still as small as Revit 2008 - Come on Autodesk this is now just laziness.

I have a 16GB Graphics card and i cant even do live sectioning of the Model in Revit - Cant see the grips in a dense model and it pauses to update - Jesus, Mary and Joseph!....If I go on BIM360, i can load the model and and Live section - in the cloud - the Lord wept!
