Scheduling Revision Clouds

Scheduling Revision Clouds

It would great if you could schedule revision clouds. You can add a comment to each cloud for the changes that occur and then schedule them by drawing number.

Good idea!
There is a addon by DZ studio called Revision cloud manager.
And we could also do it by Dynamo.

But this should be implemented in Revit.

I agree.  I've used Dynamo to get the comment list, but it isn't live, and it's not easily accessible for users.  A Revit schedule would allow quick manipulations of the data, and with the "highlight" function could help locate clouds.

It would be great to list revision cloud indeed.
I have develop my own tools who list revision and export this list to Excel, but add this directly on Revit, it's more efficient

This would be VERY HELPFUL!

Hi!
It would be neat if you added the ability to create schedules from revision clouds & their comments.
That way it gets easier to keep track of all the changes and create a memo.

Was suprised just now when I realised this wasn't a thing.... Maybe the devs. could just incorp. the revision cloud parameters into the existing sheet schedule to get the results.

Agreed.  This is a highly needed feature in Revit.  Documenting changes is a tedious task and this would simplify the process tremendously.

I have been pulling my hair out for days trying to accomplish this. Hope Autodesk is going to incorporate this soon!

I know. You can have the whole history of changes in the model for you.

+ also to go be able to mass-edit revision clouds to e.g. change revision number rather than having to go through individual sheets

I think it would be a great idea that you can create a Review cloud Schedule where you can see, in what sheet is, where can add this one, who created the cloud revision, the comments and the great idea is that you can compile all this information in one schedule that you can consult and click and then you can see where is allocated.

I have been interested in having the ability to schedule all of the Revision Clouds created in a project for the purpose of managing a narrative or change log. Currently, the only way one would be able to do this is either with a Dynamo definition or a custom developed add-in. However, the Revit API has a problem when attempting either: Dependent Views and Scope Boxes.

Since Revision Clouds are view dependent, their Workset ID is relative to their host view or sheet. In the former case, if that view happens to be dependent, then the Workset ID is of the Primary View. This makes it extremely difficult to track the sheet that the view is hosted to unless the Revision cloud is done directly on the Sheet itself.

Furthermore, if that Dependent View is also defined by a scope box, the crop boundary sketch lines are unavailable and therefore cannot be cross referenced with the sketch lines of the Revision Cloud itself to verify the view that it appears in.

Bottom-line, until the API is fixed to differentiate the hosting view of Revision Clouds, the only way to track them effectively, is to create all of them directly on the sheets. While this may not be ideal in some instances, the time savings is preferable. Hopefully this is something that can be done in the future.

I remember being able to export the comments of every revision cloud, organized by drawing sheet occurence, in a previous version of Revit.  It seems this ability is gone.  What is a good workaround for this?

You can use rtv tools (https://www.rtvtools.com/rtv-xporter/) to do this, I think. That and a million other great things 😄

How about with BIMLink?  I would prefer to use something my office already pays for.

Not sure, never used this! RTV tools is only $9.99 per seat, pretty insane value for what it can do (I'm not on commission or anything!!)
