Room Tags & leaders

Room Tags & leaders

How about when moving room tags, Revit automatically adds a leader when the tag is moved to outside of the room space?

I don't know why we cant get these super-simple / common-sense fixes.

If you wanted to add some parameters to it or make it a properties setting, fine. but why do we need a warning message a cancel and an extra step EVERY time we move a tag of that nature (which almost all of us are doing multiple times a day for any/every set of drawings)

Congrats! We think this is a great idea, so we've decided to add it to our roadmap. Thanks for the suggestion!

We are pleased to say that this has been implemented in Revit 2023.1! Thank you for your contribution to improving Revit!

@wdenman_lemvrw I will bring this to the attention of the Product Team. They may reach out to you for more information.

Thank you!

Kimberly

@wdenman_lemvrw , have you tried selecting the tags and un-checking the "Leader" button before moving?

I tried just now. The problem persists. Revit adds the leaders upon the move command. Edit: I just tried moving different groups of rooms, it seems the problem started once I had more than four rooms selected. Anything over that and the problem began.

@wdenman_lemvrw , Thank you! I will let the team know.

The problem with this is that we have multiple views of the same level for different purposes. so let's say I move the room in one view, uncheck the leader. it will be fixed in that view, how about the other 20 views? do I go and uncheck each one? previously there was a warning to say move to room. it will move all tags in all views to that room. that was perfect, this new one seems counter productive. image attached view L0 copy 1 has leader unchecked which goes to room but view L0 still has leader. the view L0 still has leaders.

I agree with go27WUL, the implementation of this is terrible.

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones  any comment on this?

"the implementation of this is terrible. " - I second that
Every time I move a room I need to select the tag as well otherwise it will add a leader.

An if there is an orphaned tag with leader you have to first move the leader to the room and then uncheck it. You can't move it and then uncheck leader because it the tag will jump to leader end position outside the room.   Totally unnecessary

@go27WUL ,

This is an active problem report that our teams are working on. The initial Idea that was posted was implemented. Working out the kinks.

Thank you for your feedback!

While the old way was annoying, this is even more so--especially because the leaders remain, even after the tag is moved back to the room.  Please either make this a user option--not a project setting--or make the leaders disappear when moved back to the room (similar to the way dimension leaders disappear if a dimension is moved back to its original location).   I've got leaders on room tags littered all over my projects, with no quick way to fix it (selecting all tags and turning off leaders removes them in those locations where they're actually needed).

I have seen many great ideas in these forums completely ignored, or archived for "lack of support" which had more votes, were more impactful, and made more sense than this one.  I'm pretty disappointed that something like this would receive a priority over so many other suggestions that have existed for years with massive support.

I agree that this idea was implemented very poorly. i am having huge issues with this as our workflow relies HEAVYLY on using room tags and could jeopardize us using Revit in the future.

See issue that I am having below

I agree with previous comments here. The implementation of this is a huge problem, giving us a lot of extra work. I have seen some suggested workarounds, but none of them resolves the issue.

Its urgent that this is taken care of as it is very time consuming, especially when working with multiple views for the same rooms.

Currently really struggling with this feature as well. I like and appreciate the concept, but there are definitely kinks that still need to be worked out. The leader remains if I drag the room tag back into the room, and I'm starting to have leaders populate on room tags in views I was not editing because I moved the basepoint of the room.

I'm hoping for some bug fixes on this one soon because this is a complete 180 from the original room tag and has caused added time in my workflow.

Someone posted how to disable this new "improvement" in this thread
