Revit - enable a rigoureus re-organisation of parameters in families - order per group AND group itself (and remember it :)

Please enable the re-ordering and re-grouping of parameters in families.

Right now when I have developped a family, it's completely IMPOSSIBLE to re-organise its parameters. If the family has already been used earlier in a project (or template), you cannot change anything. Or described better; you can change everything in de family itself but when I reload it, the parameters get shuffled in the old groups and order... Could this be fixed, or am I doing something wrong?

That's because you are using shared parameter or even project parameters that get hardcore global information in the project. You need to use revit lookup to strip the project of that information and then reload the families (all of them). Pretty tedious work but the only way.

To @richard_fielt's idea though, it would be great if Revit saw the most recent upload of a family with sorted parameters and followed those settings somehow.  Beyond that however, @Susana_Duarte_LMSI is correct.  A complete wipe of all families and project parameters from your template and a complete restart on that is really the only way currently to make it happen the way we want.  I haven't done it yet, but I'd love to start with a blank template file and then load everything that I want from scratch and start over.

@Ric_Weber exactly, that's what software is for; saving time and being user-friendly.

@Susana_Duarte_LMSI I already read that this is the case, but that's a workaround I don't want to follow. It takes too much time (with a great chance on errors because I forget something!), and time is precious :(.

It takes only one software-engineer to save other fellow-engineers a lot of time. And hey, we pay a lot of cash for this software, right?

So I am hoping this could(/should?!) be picked up by Autodesk to make this possible and save A LOT of people time. Thanks, that would be great 🙂

I agree with you, and that's why I vote up too. Specially because, unlike when you had parameters through families, if you add just a bunch of project parameters they all are alphabetic sorted by default and there is nothing you can do about it...

It would be great to have an interface that got all parameters of all families so we could globally reorganize them and re-export the familes, for those that like to bulk edit families like that (not my case, though). Then we could have the above problem solved too.
