"Safe Mode" - Start Revit without add-ins

I need to troubleshoot Revit behavior.  I have opened a support ticket with Autodesk support, and one of the recommended steps is "disable all add-ins".  The tutorial for how to do so is... this page:

If this is such a common troubleshooting step, why is disabling all add-ins so difficult to do?  And why do I need a third-party tool to do so?  Shouldn't this functionality be provided stock with Revit?

I need a "Safe Mode" which launches Revit without any add-ins enabled, for troubleshooting's sake.  Compare Mozilla Firefox's safe mode feature.

[Disappointed]

Put an apostrophe and another letter or symbol into a text file, name it something like "run-without-addins.txt" and then drag that text file onto your revit desktop icon. Revit will use the text file as a journal and run without loading anything else. Mind that this also kills cloud work sharing capabilites which seems to be addin based as well.
