Prevent underlay from appearing through mechanical elements

When using Revit links as underlays, all lines in the underlay appear on top of mechanical elements (i.e. pipes, duct, etc.) rather than acting similar to hidden line. This causes view range confusion, and it is distracting from the part of the view that is of interest. It would be more clear if all underlays acted as true backgrounds with all the main model elements within the view range showing in the foreground of the plan.

I should amend this to say that it may be better to show linked model elements that are above the main model elements in the foreground, but all linked model elements "underneath" the main model elements should be displayed strictly in the background without showing through main model elements.
