Did you mean:

prevent double click on a central file

prevent double click on a central file

Suggested by AREP

In order to prevent users to work directly on a central file :

  • disable double clicking for central file or
  • when a central is double clicked, display the same dialogbox than the usual one when the file in open through Revit UI (Open file)

I've posted many times (and for many years!) to suggest we just make the whole "Create Local File" process invisible to the user.

It should still function the same, Revit should just ALWAYS - but behind the scenes - create a Local Copy no matter how the user accesses a Central file.

Regardless of whether you:

browse to the Central through Revit's File...Open

If you click the file on Recent Files

If you double-click through Windows Explorer

If it's a Central file, Revit should always create Local Copy in your %temp% folder, so you never see it.

That's the way C4R works.

You shouldn´t be able to open a Central file by double clicking it. Users run in to this so often wich causes unecessary timeloss.

I posted a similar Idea a while ago, but it didn't get very far.

I think the whole "Central/Local" process should be invisible to the user.

It already is with C4R
