Placing fabric area/fabric sheet in curved walls

Placing fabric area/fabric sheet in curved walls

Right now there is no way to place fabric area or fabric sheets in a curved wall, only possible in straight walls.
It would be nice if this would be possible in the future releases of Revit.

Hi @Anonymous ,

You have the ability to use the Sketch option for fabrics in order to obtain curved fabric. Here is the link from the help:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2017/ENU/Revit-Model/files/GUID-098B9B94-B06D-4455-BDA6-182AB2E1ECEA-htm.html

Could you also provide more input on what are your expectations on this request, because you are speaking about both fabric and fabric area.

Kind regards,

Hi @teodorb ,

The skeetch option for fabrics works well for straight walls because that's a valid host.
Once I draw a curved wall like this picture:

This curved wall cannot host a fabric sheet or a fabric area. It would be nice if both fabric area and fabric sheets are possible.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Below is the screencast showing how you could add bent fabric sheet to a curved wall:

In order to add the bent fabric sheet, you have to have no element selected.

Let me know if you need additional information.

Kind regards,

Hi @teodorb ,

Thank you for the screencast of the fabric sheet.

Is it also possible to place fabric area to a curved wall as well?

Hi @Anonymous ,

The fabric area is bound to a plane. It cannot populate a surface (in your case a circular surface). This post should be addressing to this issue. Fabric area in curved walls.

Hi @teodorb ,

Yes, that's correct. It should be placing fabric area in curved walls.
