Personal section view

Personal section view

Whenever we create a section, Revit typically creates a new section, along with new view that contains everything you don't want to see.  If we can have a personal section view assigned to only our use, so that unless we check the box to say "Community", it will only use that view (SECTION VIEW.USERNAME) whenever we create a new section.  In addition, because it's a personal section view, it will have the view settings to show exactly what we want to see in a section and not have to liter the enter model with new section symbols, or have orphaned section views in the model for others to clean up after.

View template associate to section type is not enough?

No, as we don't want to have to create new, set view template to that view, then delete it all the time.  In addition, it would be nice if the section view would automatically have far clipping set to user specified distance (2-5 feet).

You can always create user specific section types, that have user specific templates pre-applied to that type. This will help with categorization of user working sections & maintain user specific vg settings.

This is a brilliant idea -- on many of our projects we end up with several hundred sections, even though only a couple of dozen are actually used on sheets.  In a multi-user scenario it is risky to just delete unused sections, and though you can halftone the unreferenced sections with filters, it makes working in plans very challenging.

This would largely eliminate that, (assuming user created sections can be filtered out in a similar way).

I would also love to have Reference Planes operate in this way too -- most projects end up with thousands of them!

Thanks for approving the need for this function, Kris.  I agree that reference planes as well as scope boundaries can be personalized so that whenever we create a personal scope boundary, it will allow us to right-click and choose "Goto 3D view".  The same personal 3D filter will apply to the 3D view as well.  Being able to have a personalized (1 scope boundary per user), until it is checked as "community", it will forever follow that user throughout the life of a project.

On a side note, there is a utility (Rush Forth tool) that allows us to create a boundary for what we want to see in 3D view (one that is created only for each user).  I believe Revit 2017 does have similar ability.  But that still does not take away the fact that we need a personalized section view/reference plane/scope boundary.

Cheers!
