Paperless delivery of revit model with dynamic 3D dimensions / annotation

Hi All,

At present the deliverables from Revit is in Model and sheets having various views.

Suggest the smart method from Experts to ....

Automatically create selected annotation tags in 3D
AND
User can do Dimensioning in 3D

Idea is when we rotate the 3D view (like walkthrough), Dynamically location of Annotation Tags and Dimensions should change according to 3D view.

At present location of annotation tags and dimensions  are fixed

Regards,
Rajesh

Yes ,

This help to paperless delivery. Save tree go green.

3D views have visual properties that make them more suitable for certain kinds of presentations. In particular, 3D views correctly display objects that are transparent, unlike 2D elevations or sections. Also, lighting and shadow casting behaves differently in 3D views, especially in views with active section boxes. This makes 3D views particularly useful for presentations. Unfortunately there is no way to embellish a 3D view with simple 2D content that is often needed for a clear presentation that communicates well (e.g. a tree here, a walking person there).

Please add the ability to add 2D detail components and other 2D annotations to locked 3D views.

I am specific about this ability being available only to locked views as it makes no sense to place 2D elements on top of a 3D view where the view point can be changed. I specifically do not want to place 2D elements in 3D space as this will make this feature far too complicated to implement and use. I imagine this feature would work as an overlay, hence the need to lock the 3D view.

Maybe you could use Displaced (Exploded) Views, or export to 3Dpdf.

Very well stated. Even for regular drawing sets, we are documenting more and more often from 3D Views. It's unfortunate that teams have to resort to Revit > Rhino > CAD > Revit workflows because so little can be achieved with actual 3D views from the model.

Hello

Did anybody at Autodesk ever reach out to you on this?

Autodesk, I don't mean to be a noodge, but you forgot to allow dimensioning and other annotation to occur in the new (and awesome) 3D perspective working view. We should have the full capabilities of the previous 3D orthographic views in terms of being able to measure and dimension in the new perspective views. Can we have this fixed please? Thank you!

Nice idea. And it would be great if the measure tool can be use in perspective to measure between two points in 3d space. In fact, in comparision with Rhino, Sketchup and some other modeling softwares, one of the obsatacles that prevent Revit to be intuitive is the innability to model directly and efficiently in perspective view, since many tools are "greyed out" in perspective. But these tools SHOULD be able to be used, because they are really common in other modeling tools.

and let the tennants decide whether they want to see them or not. Annotations can be turned off after all.
