Override Graphics in a view - Add Detail Level

Override Graphics in a view - Add Detail Level

It will be great if we can have an option to change the detail level of particular elements in a view. It will give us more control to show some of the elements as want to see in the views without changing the detail level of the whole view. It will eliminate some of the part plan/detail view for some of the areas and save us some time.

It will be ideal for piping drawings; in which we can set up the detail level as "Fine" for vertical pipes/risers, so it will show the actual space taken by the pipe in the shaft, and the detail level for all other piping on a plan can be set as "Medium", so all other piping will show up as single line in the view, hence it will eliminate the requirement of showing separate shaft detail on a separate view.

I am personally NOT a fan of the overrides for elements, because of consistency issues. You will have to do this from a view to view perspective, which could lead to a mismatch in graphics, plus, if you decide to change the graphics, this work has to be done in each view and by each element.

Perhaps Autodesk should look into adding this feature to the Filters Tab. This way you can create a filter based on a rule, then apply the detail override to that rule, and then use that rule as part of a View Template, for consistency sake.

We are also looking for a way to show EXISTING piping as COARSE or Single line while showing NEW piping as two line or 'real size' piping in the same view. Even a way of showing PHASES as different view styles would help.

It's easier to discern existing pipe when it shows up as a centerline vs new pipe that shows up real size/two line on a drawing. Pipe placeholders come close, but since they don't show elbows and other fittings, it doesn't quite make it.

I vote for this, but like Sash, would also prefer it in filters.
