Now where was I? - Remember what I was looking at next time I get to work.

One of my favorite features of complex software packages is remembering where you were when you last exited.  I'd like to be able to create a new local file in the morning and have my view tabs and windows show up where I had them when I synced and closed the night before.

Web browsers: re-open last open windows and tabs automatically

Excel: Save Workspace command

emacs: desktop-save

notepad++:  reopen last open set of text files automatically

Blender: workspaces

Stop creating a local file each morning. Keep your local file in your PC and syncronize each morning. Your open views will remain.

@cuen.saul current best practice info indicates that creating a new local file on a daily basis is an important habit.  Can you give me a good reason to stop doing this (besides the problem mentioned above)?

Hi @Anonymous, well, honestly, is just a matter of mere personal habit, but besides synchronizing  at the beginning of the day, I don't see any additional advantage in creating a local file each morning.

I mean, whichever way have worked for me in past ten years and I don't see any advantage, but regarding your problem, is the easiest way to solve. I think that if the central file remembers all open views for all workshare users (if we are 5, good, if we are 200, I don't know) could increase the size of central files.

I keep my local file and, if any error or corruption, then I just create a new one as suggested, otherwise I open, synchronize and start working.

Good info to ponder. Maybe I'll do a test run to see how things go. If I were to implement per-user session management, I'd just use a file stored with the rest of the work-sharing data (e.g. the .slog file). Do a sync, and open views and their window positions are stored in a tiny text file organized by user name.
