None plotting layers

None plotting layers

Ever using none plotting layer in acad, they are sorely missed, when everyone discocvers the usefulness of them for putting reminder notes and team notes so they are not missed but seen.  Better yet I could also see something like this as not even being visble in the plotting sheet layout.  Don't care right now if it were one, but would be nice to have atleast 3 of such layers.  A special line or color would be order for such a layer.

There's a free DoNotPlot app in the App-store. Only for 2015 and 2016....

This is a frequent request, but almost every time it gets asked for people mention User Notes.

I could support some sort of a User Note that wouldn't plot - I'm thinking of something like Windows Sticky Notes or Bluebeam's Markups.

But I do NOT want to see the ability to randomly select anytthing you annotate, draw or model and make it visible but no plottable.

I LIKE the fact that you what you see on the screen is what gets plotted.

Being forced to double-check every plot wo make sure nobody accidentally made something important non-plottable sounds like a nightmare.

We use Timothy Logan's NoPlot (on https://github.com/logant?tab=repositories - use the files in the Deploy subfolder). It's his updated versions of the tools he created while at LMN. It's best if you make visual styles that are noticeably different than the regular elements to plot. For example, I made a "...Red Italics - NPLT" text style, as well as a NPLT Level style (that has a red line and a smaller head). Similar for a red "NPLT" Line Style.

Also, @dplumb_BWBR you can set it to ask you every time you plot (although the "Would you like to print with the No Plot functionality?" prompt would be more clear if it said something like "Do you want to turn off 'NPLT' objects for this print?" or something similar - where 'NPLT' would be your custom string. I print with the NPLT notes on for internal progress/review sets, and only turn them off for sets being sent out. Unless you purposely override the graphics of NPLT elements (or change type properties) to look black/like other elements, there's no confusion/nightmare. :cara_guiñando_un_ojo: Certainly less confusion than with AutoCAD - where we're using magenta for both NPLT and slab joints...
