Multiple Editors of same design option in workshared file

Multiple Editors of same design option in workshared file

Scenario: Design Options in Workshared File - Conflicts can arise

Issue: If user A edits one or more elements in a design option, they end up borrowing the entire Design Option (part of the Project Standards Workset), making it so that user B cannot edit anything else in the same design option until user A relinquishes.

Solution: Make it so that when a user borrows one or more elements in a Design Option, they do not check out the entire Design Option. For some companies, this can be a big hindrance.

Users must constantly relinquish/sync when more than one person is in a design option set.  Allow more than one person to edit design options.

Thanks for taking the time to submit your idea. Unfortunately, this idea did not get the support of the community over the last 6 months and as such we will not be pursuing it at this time. Please feel free to rework (titles and clear descriptions are really important) and resubmit this one down the road.

This issues is a huge one in Revit, making the design option impossible for worksharing.

Even just 1 line, 1 Room tag can't be done until another user synchronize, and the second they touch something it becomes unavailable again.

This is totally a huge bug. Should be address asap.

For a quick deadline and for the first time we needed multiple people to work on a project in schematic design with 2 design options, so we began worksharing/collaboration. It took more time trying to get Collaboration to work than if one person just worked alone. We tried setting the Collaboration settings to borrow-by-element but if one person is in the Design Option of that element then they are asked to relinquish entire Design Option for the other person. Can you not workshare or both work within the same Design Option? We tried setting Worksets per design option hoping we could switch without syncing but still, the design options superseded. We then tried to each work in separate Design Options, but if you've used Design Options you know everything finds a way of being connected to other elements. Having multiple people working on schematic designs would greatly improve production, and quicker drafting means more time to refine the design and render it, but until this is resolved only one person can suffer through Design Options all on their own.

Yes!!!  We're trying to fix multiple design components in a design option and this is a must needed feature!  This is possible for the entire Revit model, design options should be separate too.

This is an urgent matter that Autodesk should address as a hot fix ASAP as it is a HUGE hindrance in production.  Why it would have ever been an excepted working feature in its current state is a mystery.  Perhaps Autodesk is not using as real world practices are?

Second this, this is a non-trivial item that does need to be addressed by the team and I would say its importance is high enough to warrant a hot-fix as it does indeed stop all work in a multi-person project team that needs to use design options.

Our current situation on a project: We are an MEP firm, we have a project that has multiple design options in it. We have views per trade with each design option applied. When an electrical person is working on say "Design opt 4" a mechanical user cannot work on that same design option. As you can imaging this cripples a multidiscipline firm from working on this project.

I've worked on Design Options several times but not with multiple users at the same time.  I'm amazed this issue has not being addressed already.  Autodesk, please escalate this issue to a higher priority level and fix it soon.  Regards

Fighting this same issue! Hope there is a fix soon as it is killing productivity.

Having the same issue with 2 users conflicting ownership when they are working in 2 separate design options. Design Options are under the same Design Option Set. It may be cumbersome but until there's a solution, does it make sense to put a design option on it's own workset so there is no user conflict with editing?

Is this still not implemented yet? Working in Revit 2022 and having the same issue. Come on autodesk, it's been 7 years.

Same here, this is a huge issue

This is a massive design flaw in this software. Design options are relegated to a non-collaborative workspace.
