Multi-Category Tag for all categories

Multi-Category Tag for all categories

Revit has a useful Multi-Category Tag annotation, but it does not work with the Railings and Mass categories. In 2006, 2017 and now, users are asking why this mark does not work with that categories, but no answer was found. It would be helpful if this mark would work with all categories in the project.

It should support all categories. E,.g, gutters and facias also cannot be tagged

What about tagging parameters within groups? Can that be rolled into this?

This should be rolled into a more generic request / feature:

ALL ELEMENTS (hosted or not) should be able to have ALL PARAMETERS tag-able using ANY TAG (specific or generic).

As far as I know, many hosted elements parameters cannot be tagged (Comments, Type Comments, etc.)...

Congrats! We think this is a great idea, so we've decided to add it to our roadmap. Thanks for the suggestion!

We are pleased to say that this has been implemented in Revit 2022!

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones, Gutters and Fascias still cannot be tagged in Revit 2022.1, so the status of this issue should not be marked as Implemented...

@marcin ,

I do not have 2022 installed on my laptop. It is working in Revit 2024.2, and according to the Help file from Revit 2022,

"You can apply a multi-category tag to any kind of component, regardless of its category, by applying a filter parameter to a tag."

If you are continuing to have issues, please reach out to me directly and we will file a problem report. Hope this helps!

Dear Kimberly,

Thank you very much for your response. I am sure you are aware that many
companies use earlier versions of Revit than the current one, so it would be
great if you could also be able to check certain functionalities in these
earlier versions.

As we all know the ultimate check is the software environment rather than
the Help file. And this check shows that you cannot tag fascia and gutters
with multidisciplinary tag in Revit 2022.1. Can you tag these specific
objects in Revit 2024?

It would be also good to make sure what the Help file understands as
"category". Fascia and gutters look like subcategories of the Roof category
(although I am not sure if technically they are), so the statement you
quoted my not apply to them

I would be very grateful for your clarification of this issue.

@marcin ,

I spoke with one of our developers who confirmed that the ability to tag gutters and fascias was implemented in Revit 2024 (and possibly 2023), but not 2022. My apologies for the confusion. We typically do not add new functionality to previous versions, unfortunately. (Yes, I understand that most of our customers are several versions behind the current release. I was working in Revit 2017 when I joined Autodesk in 2020. 😉). But as of Revit 2024 this functionality has been implemented as per the original Idea. Again, my apologies and I hope this helps to clarify the issue.

Kimberley, thank you very much for your swift action and clarification. I am fully aware that Autodesk does not add new functionalities to the old versions, however in the discussion you mentioned some time ago that this particular functionality was added to Revit 2022 and this is what caused my confusion. All clear now. Thanx again and take care.
