Move Grids independently in Stories

Move Grids independently in Stories

In many projects, it is needed to move grids independently in stories, because columns get smaller in upper stories, so grids spacing changes too.

Right now, when you move a grid in one story, it moves in all other stories too.

Revit should allow the user to choose whether grids are dependent or independent in different stories.

The purpose of a grid is to have a fixed reference throughout the building. Variable grid sizes pretty much defeats that purpose. If you want the grid to follow the columns, then add extra grid lines.

You could have a different grid layout for every floor, but it's a recipe for disaster.

@Simon_Weel

As you said, drawing grids for each floor is very laborious.

But I have no other choice, because field engineers need the distance between column centroids for each floor.

When we worked with AutoCAD, we did this manually. I really want to have a better tool in Revit to do this.

Don't think your idea will gain much votes?

In your case, I would create a Scope Box for each level and tie the set of grids for that level to the designated scope box.
