More flexibility and customization of electrical circuit load name

More flexibility and customization of electrical circuit load name

I'm aware this a long shot but here goes...

I would like the ability for the circuit load name to be created/copied from user defined parameter(s) of the circuited element(s). The functionality is already there for circuited electrical equipment, minus user input. It uses the downstream Panel Name parameter for the Load Name. I'd be happy if it only worked on single element circuits but it really should support multiple elements. Read on for more context.

Currently, the load name is populated using the Load Classification of the connector as well as the space name and number, if present. It can be manually changed after the fact. In a panel schedule (template) the option exists to combine parameters of electrical circuits to 'create' a load name, but parameters from the circuited elements are not available.

For low voltage circuits (telecom, security, etc) a circuit almost always consists of only one element. But the circuit load name will say 'DATA' or 'SECURITY'. In order for a (data) panel schedule to be helpful the load names need to be changed to identify the device, a unique device ID. An electrical circuit schedule can be created that achieves this (sort/group/header by panel and circuit number and ability to combine parameters from circuited device). But you lose built-in panel schedule formatting and functionality, like panel location, and schedules are category specific (multi category schedules don't see circuit info). You can't see an access control panel (elec equipment) circuited to a PoE switch (elec equipment) in a security device schedule.

This could also be useful for mechanical loads (AHUs, RTUs, etc) where often the equipment name is desired for the Load Name. The current solution is Dynamo, macro, or add-in export-import. It would just be so much better built into the software.

I agree with this, massively so. I'm currently teaching an engineer how to use panel schedules in Revit and the conversation is "here is how Revit works" and then "but this is what you're supposed to make it look like because it doesn't work quite how you want it to".

It would be nice if I could specify Revit to use the Mark parameter (e.g. ASHP 01) instead of the Load Classification (e.g. ASHP). there could be many pieces of equipment that all share the same Load Classification but have different unique identifiers.

Similarly when multiple Panels are on a circuit it would be nice if I could list the Panel Name parameters instead of it swapping to the Load Classification instead, losing the unique panel references.

It would also be nice if it could list all of the Load Classifications for Electrical Fixtures and Lighting Fixtures that are used on a circuit. Currently, where multiple values are found it returns a blank value instead of listing the values.

If I have several Types of elements on a single electrical circuit, instead of the panel schedule showing "General Sockets S45 Office, Water Cooler S45 Office" it returns "S45 Office".

That is really quite inconvenient and requires a lot of manual editing to put it right and as soon as you use the automatic circuit name update feature when elements are added or moved to new rooms the custom circuit name is deleted and replaced with a blank again.

It would be even better if it could return the quantity of each element so that "General Sockets S45 Office, Water Cooler S45 Office" would become "6x General Sockets S45 Office, 1x Water Cooler S45 Office" or "8x Recessed Downlights S45 Office, 2x EM Spot Lights S45 Office" etc.

We need to vote for changes like these to get on the Roadmap !
