Hello Revit Community,
I'd like to propose an improvement to streamline project setup and ensure data consistency by addressing a redundancy in the project parameters.
The Issue: Duplicate "Project Address" Parameters
Within a Revit project, "Project Address" exists in two separate locations, but these parameters are not linked:
Manage Tab > Location and Site > Project Address
Manage Tab > Project Information > Other > Project Address
The Problem:
The [Project Information - Project Address] is the parameter typically referenced by title block families to display the project address on sheets. However, the [Location and Site - Project Address] is often used for site-specific data, like geolocation for analysis.
Because these two parameters are unlinked, users are required to enter the exact same address in two different places. This creates redundant work and, more importantly, introduces the risk of errors or inconsistencies if the address is updated in one location but not the other.
Proposed Solution: Merge into a Single, Shared Parameter
I recommend merging these two parameters into a single, shared project parameter.
With this change, a user could enter or edit the Project Address in either the Location and Site dialog OR the Project Information dialog. The value would be stored in one place and simply displayed in both locations.
Benefits of this Change:
Eliminates Redundancy: Users would only need to enter the project address once.
Streamlines Workflow & Ensures Consistency: This would prevent data inconsistencies by ensuring the address used for site location always matches the address on project documentation (title blocks). Updating the address in one dialog would automatically update it everywhere.
This seems like a logical enhancement that would make project data management more efficient and reliable. I'm interested to hear if others have encountered this and what their thoughts are on this suggestion.
Thanks!
