MEP duct and pipe systems in worksets

MEP duct and pipe systems in worksets

Make the function actually work.

As it is now, the user are able to place pipe and duct systems in a seperate workset than the system elements. Very good. But when the MEP model are linked into ect. an architect model and the system are closed in manage worksets, the color still appers. This is a bug, and it should be fixed, so the architects can turn of the MEP colors from systems in all views. Worskets on system.jpg

@ViviNyehuusAndersen I never knew you can have different element and system worksets. To me, it seems like an inefficient workflow that can be resolved via filters by System Type. Perhaps there are some benefits to having systems on different worksets though.

Filters only work on views they are added,  which is inefficient. By using manage worksets you can hide what you don´t want to see in the entire model. Such as system colors. I have also suggested Project filters.. Just looking for more time-saving methods, so the projects save time (money).

Furthermore, the model size is reduced by closing the worksets you do not need to see.

@ViviNyehuusAndersen I understand the intention, but systems aren't elements in the model. If I'm not mistaken, only the worksets of the elements themselves when closed will unload the elements. Closing a system workset shouldn't hide the elements.

It is general it is good practice to keep all the HVAC elements on the same workset. Worksets can be subdivided in building sections when they get too large, but I wouldn't recommend changing system worksets (again, never played with system worksets before as it will probably create a lot of micro management work. So far I can't think of any benefits of managing system worksets).

Although closing worksets improves performance, a lot of the performance is also determined by view regeneration of which visible elements plays a big role i.e. hiding a linked model on a 3D view by turning off a workset in that view has the same performance benefits as closing the workset in the model.
