Maximize the space used for thumbnails on Recent Files

I've noted that Recent Files page recent project "buttons" are not utilizing all the space available for thumbnails. Is there any reason that the gray area shown in my image is not fully being used by the thumbnail? There is a lot a wasted space on that "button". I'd love to have a project's project number be readable on the thumbnail.
