Make Revit's Notes: to fix errors actually work

Make Revit's Notes: to fix errors actually work

When trying to clean-up railing and baluster families (because Revit makes duplicates of families with the same name when anything is copy-pasted from another project - which is so annoying in itself), this warning dialog pops up:

However, when following these "instructions" exactly as written, the baluster family in question is not selected, so it cannot be changed to another family. Either change the "instructions" to reflect what Revit can actually do, or fix the function so a baluster family within a railing type can be selected by right-clicking on it in the Project Browser and Select All Instances in entire Project.

@mpukas The whole error thing needs a makeover.

Here's another example of Revit's poorly executed Error messages:

I'm trying to copy-paste walls, floors, soffits, roofs into a new project so I can upload it into another thread for help with trouble shooting an issue I'm having. It won't complete the paste command because of this error, and it will not show me what the elements are that are having the issue, so I can address them. I can't copy-paste the element id from the error dialog, so I have to create a separate note file, type in the element id for element in question, and manually search for each. Then, when I search for the element id in the main file, those id's are not present. So I can't find the offending elements to correct them.

Even when everything has been unjoined and unlocked, Revit still gives this error.

This is just one example of how poorly functional Revit is. There is nothing in my life that I despise as much as Revit because of issues like this. It's a constant battle of trying to decipher what Revit will do and will not do, and trying to figure out why.
