Maintain Family Parameter Groups when changing within family and reloading

We've all been there. You refine your family's parameters and their grouping. When you RELOAD it back into the project, those changes aren't fixed.

There is no solution to this. The only "workaround" is either create a new shared parameter, or start a new template and plan ahead, as outlined in this Knowledge Network post:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...

I'd like to see this changed. If I make a change, I want to see that change reflected in the project where the family already resided.

Agreed.   This is a bug that is being paraded as an "undocumented feature."   Yeah, you clicked update, but we thought it would be better NOT to update.

No rhyme or reason to this. I am making a new template and it started to happen half way through it. Now...........-(
