Link imagery by Shared Coordinates.

Link imagery by Shared Coordinates.

In building projects, drone orthomosaics and DEM (DSF and DTM) are vey useful to get site context for features to model (like sidewalks, street shape) location of near buildings, natural features and utilities. Aerial and Satellite imagery are also use to create location maps of projects.

In revit is posible to attach images, but you have to place and scale it manually (geo-referenced images not always are scaled evenly). With the ability to import images placed by coordinate system, we can also import any GIS map (of zoning, utility and much more) as image as reference.

The ability to link imagery (as GeoTIFF) by shared coordinates will improve a lot some work flows.

Currently to use imagery with coordinates I have to imported a AutoCAD file with the georeferenced imagery (taking into account that in Revit the image would be over any other drawing element). Even plan AutoCAD can support imagery with coordinates, so I have to work in AutoCAD Map / Civil 3D to then use the command export map to AutoCAD to get the image in place without distortion. Basically, to attach a aerial image correctly in revit I have to work in AutoCAD Map to export to AutoCAD clasic, then link it into Revit. But it is also more complex than only import the file:

Revit only read AutoCAD images if the image attached are JPG or PNG format (not work with TIFF), and import/link the CAD need to be as "Current View Only" in order to make visible the images (but no problem with that)
