We don't normally have issues with Levels (since it's usually only coincident with solid lines), but I could really see the usefulness of something like this for Grids - both (Levels & Grids) should have an "automatic gap" feature: Revit shouldn't show the grid/level line where there is an overlapping non-solid line. For example: when we show joint lines in plan, we need to stop the gridline short of the building and manually draw a Detail Line on the other side - otherwise the two patterns overlap to show a mostly-solid line. This is a pain.
Level lines and grid lines can visually overpower modeled content. Also they can make extension lines for dimensions less clear, as to what their target is, and what the gap to the target is.
What I do in Autocad is make the gridlines thin and gray. And then push them to the back in draw order.
In Revit you can make them thin and gray, but their draw order is on top, so this actually makes it worse and lays gray dashed lines on top of plan objects.
So I would like to request that gridlines and level lines can have the draw order adjusted. Or possibly transparency. In 2018 there are no draw order nor transparency settings for gridlines.
