The selection methods in Max would help a lot, the drag and hold selection lasso as well as the point and click to draw a selection area are really helpful.
In general, lasso selection tool is useful ONLY on touch devices (phones, tablets, touch screens). It is very difficult to use it by mouse.
It is not possible to have polygonal / lasso selection modes in Revit as yet, because Revit does not support point selection yet. For the same reason (no point selection), Revit doesn't manage GIS coordinates / points very well. For the same reason, there are various limitations for steel structures and steel nodes that specifically requires point selections. For the same reason Revit cannot produce steel parts shop drawings automatically (steel parts require dimensioning between points).
A Lasso Tool for selecting objects(Similar to AutoCAD's) in REVIT would be very helpful and help improve efficiency and productivity for all users. Thank you.
Lasso Selection mode in Autocad is useful only on touchscreens. It is very difficult to operate Lasso Selection with a regular mouse. I use Polygonal Selection tool instead of Lasso. And i miss polygonal selection in Revit. I also miss QuickSelection from Autocad (a.k.a. filtered selection).
Lasso type tool to select objects in Revit. Similar to other programs if you draw the lasso clockwise it is solid selection window and only selects objects completely inside the lasso and, counterclockwise would be a dashed selection window with anything touching/within the boundary is selected
