Keynote Repeating Details

Keynote Repeating Details

Detail components can be tagged with a keynote tag like most other elements. However, if a detail component is part of a repeating detail type then it is not possible to tag it with a keynote tag.

Currently, the only workaround to this is to not use repeating details, but instead create a line based detail component family that contains an array of a nested detail component family.

plus the ability to add Tag based on Type Comments or Description.  Basically add all the same taggable parameters as a normal detail item.

this is a big issue for documentation. ideally, I would just like to "Tab" in and tag the detail component inside the repeating detail the same way you can with a shared nested family.

this way the tag is consistent whether you are using one detail or many.

just let me tab one level down.

Yes PLEASE!  I see that this oversight has been talked about for 10+ years now!!!

Just did a search to find out why I can't keynote repeating details....guess Revit has not resolved this yet.

This would be great! I wouldn't have to have to duplicate work by creating line based detail items to solve this issue. Although with line based detail items I can build in truncated "filler" to automatically appear when the distance isn't exactly the given spacing.

Throwing my vote out there. Would be nice to tag a repeating detail component the same way we can tag detail components, or be able to tag a nested detail component within a repeating detail component.

this is just a must have. please make this happen.

An absolute must for Revit detailing.

Often I will place the overlay the detail component that is creating the repeating component on to tag with standard smart annotation. However this seems an unnecessary step when you could just tab in to tag the component. Oh Revit... Please fix this... Seems to be a simple line of code!

Ridiculous that Autodesk have not addressed this, get your act together!

I'm surprised this still hasn't been addressed  - it's essential for detailing.

Still hasn't been updated. Makes it unusable for detailing... Seems like a simple fix to be able to tab in to the element that the repeating detail is made out of.

Another item to add to the list of "Basic, simple functionality, requested by the community for years and still not implemented".

Autodesk. Please try to be less useless and give people what they have been asking for, not icon updates.

Either give the ability to add shared parameters to the repeating items ourselves or add some useful type parameters similar to those the individual detail items have: Comments, Description, Keynote, Assembly Code, etc.

These would be used to describe the "collection" of elements the repeating elements represent.  Which can then be consistently tagged.

We're supposed to be trying to get away from using text annotations.

BUMP - This is simple/small item, but enormous in impact.  The nonsensical workarounds required to get around the lack of these features (described very well by others above) is antithetical to what Autodesk and its advocates keep telling us to do.
