Hello,
I recently experienced an issue where Revit renders small revolved solids as polygonal, rather than circular. To test this, I created a family with two 1/2" diameter cylinders. One cylinder was extruded from a circular sketch, and the other was revolved from a rectangular profile. The extruded cylinder renders with accurate curvature, but the revolved cylinder renders as an octagonal prism. This family is attached to this message, with a screenshot of their renders.
Here is a forum thread where I describe the issue, and another user works through it as well:

I reached out to Autodesk support, and this was their explanation for this phenomenon:
"The way revolves are processed and rendered is different from extrusions. Unfortunately there is no user setting to control the faceting of revolved surface."
In my usage of Revit, it is often important to be able to show these sorts of small details. I have a couple ideas that could fix this issue:
- Add a "faceting" setting that the user can adjust to improve the fidelity of small-scale rendering.
- Process revolves in a similar way to circular extrusions, preserving curvature detail at small scales.
