Impossibility of Joining Beams to Floors and Pillars

Impossibility of Joining Beams to Floors and Pillars

Currently, we face a limitation that I consider unacceptable: the impossibility of directly joining elements such as structural beams to floors and pillars. This restriction creates considerable challenges in accurately representing drawings, resulting in undesirable lines in views such as sections.

It is crucial that we maintain a faithful and cohesive representation of structural elements throughout all phases of the project. The impossibility of directly connecting beams to floors and pillars not only harms the aesthetics of the representation, but also compromises part of the clarity and understanding of the project as a whole.

The impact may be minimal, but it is important that these elements can be united.

I suggest that the Revit development team consider implementing direct joining of elements such as floors and columns to structural beams. This will not only eliminate unwanted lines in crucial views, but also provide a natural representation without having to use black fills in cuts to “hide” the lines.

Best regards,
Erik Hianke
