Imported CAD Should Maintain Layer Hierarchy

Imported CAD Should Maintain Layer Hierarchy

Many of Autodesk's own products do this, but when an AutoCAD file is linked in, rather than maintaining layer hierarchy, layers are laid out alphabetically, and links of xRefs are concatenated into single layer names, which are then flattened in model space.

In terms of the V/G Overrides, it would be much more useful if xRef names became categories, and layers maintained their native names inside these catagories. In other words, if files B and C are xRef-ed into CAD file A, then in Revit, in the V/G overrides, under imported catagories, Linked CAD A is visible with it's layers inside, but also linked files B and C are catagories inside A, with their layers preserved inside those catagories.

As well, it would be cool if when a CAD file is selected in model space, first click selects the CAD as a whole, but then a second click would begin selecting layers within the CAD file. This would make imported CAD files so much more useful.

Thanks!
