Ideas forum enhancement

Most users cannot be bothered to search this considerable pool of ideas b4 posting. Maybe a sort of failsafe could be established like

"Your idea seems to have already been posted (by <user> on <date> and voted by <x users>) would you consider checking whether it differs enough? <Text of similar idea found by server> [acknowledge, discard own and upvote] or [Ignore and continue posting]"

Hopefully this would raise some ideas from the vaults.

As new Ideas come in, I do go through each one personally and compare them to existing Ideas. If the Ideas are similar enough, they are combined. We would really prefer that our customers do a quick search...I find using simple keywords instead of full phrases brings better results and makes it rather easy to find similar Ideas.

That being said, there is already an Idea related to the Revit Ideas Forum. Should I combine? 😊

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones Damo's idea that you are referring to also holds 'my idea' in it but is a far greater exercise than mine. It cannot be merged as I have already voted for idea 6911692 in 2019. It is a good example of what this idea recommends: If some algorithm could match the terms 'enhancement' to 'clean-up' and figure that the word order may be neglected, I might have have re-found the 2017 idea b4 posting. I will try getting ChatGPT or some other agent to check this forum whether whatever springs to my mind has already been poured into the ideas pool next.

I don't want to start another non-idea on the ideas enhancement matter but posting another idea, I realized that selecting more than four items from the categories induces the forum to comment that no more than two may be selected. Either that is an oversight or the hint comes too late.

@Disappointed , the Categories is something I am currently looking into for better organizing. Would you prefer to have more than two categories? Or just a note letting you know to "select two"?

@kimberly_fuhrman-jones I was just documenting an inconsistency. Looking at my ideas, I usually picked three categories that felt fitting the bill in a way. Selecting the fourth entry and only then being reminded that two would have been the limit, is annoying. So yes, I would prefer to have more than two categories. A hint changing from 'Select at least one category.' into 'You may select another two categories' into 'You may select another category.' would be helpful.
