I have been tagging HVAC ductwork in Revit for many years, and there is one simple improvement that would greatly increase productivity for MEP users. When tagging ductwork, the Placement panel contains the “Leader Line” toggle. Currently, this option can only be turned on/off by manually moving the mouse up to the ribbon and clicking the button. There is no keyboard shortcut and no way to map this toggle to a shortcut key. Workflow Issue Because the Leader Line option is located on the ribbon, far away from the cursor, the user must: Move the mouse away from the model space Travel to the top of the screen Click the Leader Line icon Return to the tagging action This adds unnecessary travel and repeated interruption during high-volume tagging sessions. Comparison: AutoCAD Dynamic Input In AutoCAD, Dynamic Input allows users to toggle certain settings right next to the cursor without moving all the way to the ribbon. If Revit had a similar method—or simply a shortcut—to toggle Leader Line, users could switch modes instantly with the left hand, while keeping the mouse focused on the drawing area. Why This Matters For MEP engineers and drafters who tag hundreds of ducts, this enhancement would: Dramatically reduce mouse travel Allow tagging to be done faster and more fluidly Reduce repetitive strain Improve accuracy because the cursor stays in the model area Mirror efficiency features already proven in AutoCAD Request Please add one of the following: A dedicated keyboard shortcut (or mappable command) to toggle the Leader Line option Or a Dynamic Input–style on-screen toggle, near the cursor, that appears when using the Tag tool Either solution would solve the problem and align Revit with the efficiency available in AutoCAD. If this capability already exists in Revit 2023–2025, I would appreciate any guidance. Otherwise, please consider implementing this in a future release. Thank you.
