Sometimes working with with a particular view would be handy to project it. Ie you have a plan and project it to an elevation, or front side and you project it to see left side etc.. It would be amazing to have the ability to add a shared parameter to the properties of the hosting element in the Wall/Floor/Ceiling/Roof based family templates. A button could be added in the properties of the host to add new shared parameters. These would then be added into the Parameter UI in a new category called "Host".   This would allow, for example the door to read the fire rating of the wall in the project it is hosted too (if both elements are using the same shared parameter) and then auto fill the required rating for the door using a formula set up in the door family.       Show More

It would be nice if we could add the Detail Level in the Filter.  We all know its not possible for AutoDesk to create a simple "Full square" (like a duct) system for Cable tray, we only have ladder and an U shaped possibility's  So to compensate for that, it could be nice to be able to decide in the filter, if you want to see one type of cable trays in the medium Level, and others in High Level when looking in 3D view   I'm waiting your responses   Helal..  Show More

I cannot be the only one who is frustrated endlessly at the "constrain" option when using the move tool. It currently constrains as long as you don't move your cursor over 45 degrees off the axis you're trying to move something on. Which honestly is rather useless given that objects are often beyond this line when attempting to move an object, and then revit snaps to the alternative axis when moving.    To further add to this, the align tool does not suffice in for this function, as it will not work for groups of objects at a time. Additionally, if you're using the align tool on single objects it does not behave consistently for it to be effective, ie: it modifies edges and endpoints of objects differently when you select them.     Most other cad programs have this feature. There are a lot of time when elements get modeled in the wrong workset and/or level. When we try to move the hole model between for example Workset1 and the correct workset, it takes forever, if revit doesn't freezes in the end, and we even risk losing information (like fittings taps) or getting stuff disconnected. We are just changing one property value that has no implication in the view we have open... Why is this so painfull?   The same with changing the level, even when both levels have the same elevation, so the element doesn't even have to move or recalculate. We again get lots of disconects all the time.   Why???   Can you not make this a simplers operation? Please?  I lose days of my life with tasks like these, that should be so simple. How can we explain this to our clients?? How do you? Show More

There are a lot of times we need to copy-paste 2D annotations like tags between diferent views. Why will revit give an error and prevent copying of tags that come from some face-based familes (in this case a visit door for ducts that is a duct accessorie). We have air terminals that are face based and we do not have any issue with those...   Show More

Issue: In large workshared projects with many cooks in the kitchen, the Material Browser can become so bloated with material data that it takes upwards of minutes to open and edit a material.    Proposed improvement: Provide the option to only open a single material's properties at a time. For example, when I want to edit a ceiling tile material, I don't need Revit to load all 999 other materials in my Revit project. From the following menu, I could then ask Revit to open the entire material Browser. As far as I can tell, while Revit materials can have dependencies to appearance and .adsklib files, they don't have individual dependencies to each other. I'd love to be right about this as some material browsers can become incredibly cumbersome regardless of how well a model is managed Show More

Hi, the idea is to have an option for alternate units in schedules, similar to what we have for dimensions, in order to eliminate the need to create calculated values. For example, the primary units could be set to "mm" and the alternate units to "inches", with the ability to write our own separator (e.g., "/", "-", or even enclose the alternate units in parentheses), stack them one above the other, or display them side by side in two columns under the same header.   We should also be able to enter data in either the primary or alternate units, and have the conversion automatically applied to the other unit. Issue: Currently, converting a live model view into a 2D drafting view requires exporting to CAD and re-importing into Revit. This process is inefficient, introduces unnecessary file handling, and slows down detailing workflows.   Current Workaround: Export to DWG → Import into Revit → Redraft as a 2D view. Exploding CAD in Revit is strongly discouraged because it brings in unwanted elements such as font styles, hatch patterns, and line styles from the export process, polluting the active Revit file and creating long-term maintenance issues.   Proposed Feature: Enable a “Convert to Drafting View” option directly within Revit for any live view (plan, section, elevation, or 3D). This would: Freeze the geometry and annotations into a static 2D representation. Maintain linework fidelity without requiring external CAD workflows. Allow users to immediately begin detailing without impacting the primary model. Provide flexibility for temporary detailing or sketch-based work where final approval has not been received, avoiding the need to save out multiple files or alter existing modeling. Key Benefits: Efficiency: Eliminates CAD round-tripping and reduces time spent on manual conversions. Preserves design intent: Immortalize details without over-modeling in the main model. Issue: When exporting Revit sheets (Revit 2023-2026) to PDF using the built-in PDF export tool, text within Revit schedules often wraps incorrectly and extends beyond the cell boundaries. This results in misaligned or unreadable tables in the final PDF output. Within revit all the tables appear to be fine. This is not a font style issue as we are using arial. There are no modifiers in the font style that are affecting the margin. The parameter being pulled is text under a plumbing and equipment schedule in this case with a fair amount of verbiage. We have also seen this in electrical tables as well. Changing table column widths is not fixing the issue. Changing the table to multiline and placing manual hard returns is not ideal as this introduces issues when the table is reduced on a sheet. Export issues are not new issues and it needs to be addressed. We see similar results with CAD exports as well where wrapping and margins just are not doing what they should be. PDF Export   PDF print using Bluebeam       FYI - We just put a heat ticket in from Rand. We tested this in many different ways to no avail. Reviewed several kb articles on the matter. If you want more details on the plotting issues refer to this. Case Number - 25056992 Subject - Revit Schedule Text Wrapping Fails (goes outside boundary) after exporting to PDF   Current Workaround: Users are forced to rely on third-party PDF creators (e.g., Bluebeam, Adobe) to achieve proper text wrapping and formatting via the old "ctrl+p" menu. This adds extra steps and dependency on external software, which is inefficient for large-scale production workflows. The third party PDF creators are also issues when encountering long Revit or windows sessions. This results in misaligned text or font size or font swap in some cases. In those cases we have to restart Revit and or Windows  and try plotting again.   Proposed Fix: Fix or Enhance Revit’s native PDF export engine to correctly respect cell boundaries, size, position and text wrapping in schedules and tables. Provide an option to select an alternate PDF creator within Revit’s export settings for users who prefer or require a different rendering engine. This could be implemented as: A dropdown in the PDF export dialog to choose between “Revit PDF Engine” and “Alternate PDF Engine.” Support for common PDF standards to ensure compatibility with external tools. Remove the other confusing use of the old PDF ctrl p menu. Benefits: Eliminates formatting issues in schedules during PDF export. Reduces reliance on third-party tools, streamlining documentation workflows. Offers flexibility for users who need alternate PDF engines for compliance or quality requirements. We can link Datum extents to Scope boxes. It would be very useful to link WorkPlane extents to Scope Boxes too. Different levels may have different Scope Boxes assigned to it, but when we change the workplane to another level with another Scope box, the workplane is not visible because it is outside the scope box (since the view crop is identical to the scope box).
