This shouldn't even be a thing, but as this is Revit, it is a thing... when spot elevations are placed on a toposolid, and then the toposolid sub-elements are modified, the Revit throws warnings that the spot elevations will be deleted. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN!!! This behavior / programming - or lack of programming - is not acceptable. As a project develops and annotations are added, it is inevitable that modifications to the project design will happen. Including modifications to the toposolid sub-elements, which control grade and contours. Spot elevations on toposolids need to update as modifications are made, just like dimensions update when the element they dimension are modified. Important information is lost when spot elevations are deleted, and it's time consuming and non-sensical to locate and document every spot elevation that will be deleted, and then replace each one.  Show More

It would be nice to have the Coordination Warning that pops up when opening a file have the ability to have elements listed or at the very least the Linked File that needs to be checked. I can't see this being hard to do since that info is at least know otherwise the warning would have not popped up. You could have the file listed in that warning dialog box, or have it like the "Error" tree and expand to see file and items.  Bonus, if you can somehow highlight the objects in plan or create a view that shows the differences in different colors. Hello Revit Community, I would like to share a few ideas for improving the basic operating in Revit. I will present them in this and next posts. Quick changing of section depth: I work a lot with sections. It would be nice to have a possibility for an easy and quick changing of a  section depth (that is beginning of the depth and end of the depth) with an option in rightclik menu when selecting a section or better a command to do that (not to have to make a rightlick). To illustrate - If the user wants to change a section to begin from Point A and to end in Point B, he hast to move the section, and wait for regeneration (what takes a while in larger projects), and then change the section depth, and wait for regeneration.  Autodesk, please add a function to make it in two mouse clicks (on point A and B).   Show More

I will present them in this and next posts.   Incomprehensible extending a pipe to the half of another pipe: When extending a pipe or a duct to another pipe or duct I noticed a strange behavior of revit - when I want to pick a target pipe (an Axis) Revit (2026 and earlier versions) highlights left or right half o the pipe or half ot he insulation instead if the Axis. Why ? Why a half and not a quarter for example?...  A small request to Autodesk for fixing that function to simply highlighting the Axis as a target. I also noticed that revit highlights Target elements (half of them) fe. pipefittings when there is no posibility to extend elements to them. Then what for revit highligts them? Show More

We use dependent views to place small versions of the plans and elevations on every sheet.  This leads to 20+ dependent views for each plan and elevation.  When the scope of a project grows, we then have to edit the crop region of every single dependent view.  There should be an option to have dependent views match the crop region of the parent view. Hello Revit Community, I would like to share a few ideas for improving the basic operating in Revit. I will present them in this and next posts. Selecting objects in Revit extremely hard. A would have a request to Autodesk to work a little bit on making selecting objects in Revit easier because it is ver very hard and it is irritating how effort I have to put to pick objects. Revit nearly always (90% of the cases) selects not what I want. It seems to me that the programmers couldn't do it right so they implemented a function to toggle objects with Tab button. In Autocad for example it is simple - I can select that on what I point the cursor. Example 1: If the user hovers a mouse cursor on the pipe to select it, Revit selects some other objects like they have some invisible boundaries that are accidentally in a range of the cursor.   Example 2: The user cannot normally mark an object until he reaches with the cursor the end of invisible boundaries of the object.     Show More

To narrow fields in View Range window: In a few projects I found an irritating problem that the fields in View Range window are to narrow and the user cannot read the whole name. Sadly there is also no possibility to widen this window. These fields should automatically adjust their length proportionally to the number of characters in them.   Show More

Wrongly highlighted fields: The following fields I found wrongly highlighted -  1) after selecting a pipe the content of the field with the size of the pipe is highlighted. Normally in any other program it means that I can start typing to change it, but not in Revit. 2) When using Tab keyboard button in properties palette the content of the field to which the user goes with the Tab button is not highlighted, so it doesnt give a clear information that I can start typing. Bug report: extending pipes with slope: When designing sewage systems I noticed a bug when extending one pipe with a slope to the second pipe with a slope. The pipe that is being extended is wrongly displayed - extended is the middle line but not the whole pipe. The walk around is to extend pipes with a slope always to the line and not to the second pipe.     Show More

Hello Revit Community, I would like to share a few ideas for improving the basic operating in Revit. I will present them in this and next posts. Missing Icon to rotate a fitting in counterclockwise direction: When selecting a fitting there appears a blue icon to rotate this object but only in one direction (clockwise). What's more this icon changes its position so the user cannot quickly click the second time but he has to move the mouse cursor to the new position to click what makes the work slower. It would make a work faster when there were two icons clockwise and counterclockwise so that the user could pick the disered direction.   A small request to Autodesk for improving this process.     Show More

Drawing installations at 45° angle: I would be glad if Autodesk could imporve the process of drawing lines / pipes / ducts or some other linear objects at the angle of 45°.  When drawing fe. sewege installations this angle is often used.
