There are a number of families where part of the family needs to stay vertical no matter what the slope of the host, while the rest of the family needs to adjust to the slope of the host. A common application of this problem is various roof mounted families, where the base of the curb needs to adjust to the roof slope, but the rest of of the family needs to remain vertical. Even when the entire family should slope, the reference planes still should remain vertical in many cases, so the location of the items (skylights, etc.) can be documented. While having the ability to set the "keep vertical" status individually on items would be very helpful to make smart families, being able to access and use in formulas the slope of the host would be a big help in building such families. The slopes angle and direction should be accessible in the same way the thickness of a host wall is available.
