There are many cases where we need the topo mesh to finally be completely solid and still give us plan-area calculation values, this would be a general solve to most topography problems we're having. We could add and subtract volumes from one another and create tunnels, sub-terrain volumes, easier and more realistic sidewalks and roads, rocky mountainous areas that have more than one point in a specific X-Y coordinate with a different Z value, create caves and more. Another basic functionality to the revisions on sheets could be added - the 'Revisions on Sheets Button' should not disappear when selecting multiple sheets so we could change the revisions on multiple sheets with two clicks  instead like now have to click  each sheet individually and change revision. There are times when wall do need to attach, but (at least the way we use Revit) walls are attached on a case by case basis.  It is annoying to deal with the popup every time a floor is edited.  There should be an option to never attach, and never ask (ideally in options and on the popup) to address the question "Would you like walls that go up to this floor's level to attach to its bottom?" It would be great to be able to set a schedule so that when placed on a sheet it was filtered to only show elements visible on the sheet, similar to the way a color fill legend can automatically filter itself to the view it's placed on.   This would be of great use for schedules of room/space data, equipment data etc. etc.   It would need to be a dynamic filter so that the same schedule could be placed onto multiple sheets, with each showing different elements.   Show More

In the UK its industry standard to use complex revision letters, we never use revisions such as A, B, C or 1, 2 ,3.   We always prefix the revision with a letter to denote the project stage i.e. Preliminary, Tender, Construction, which gives revisions such as:   P01, P02, P03, T01, T02, C01, C02, C03 etc     The Revision Tool in Revit should be able to handle these types of revision codes as well as simple A, B, C codes.   Show More

Our company's sheet naming standard is too long to use the OOTB section head. We have a triangular section head, but I had to create different visibility parameters for each rotation since the text is relative to the section head itself.   I would like to be able to have a single section head that keeps the view reference/label relative when the section is rotated in any direction. I created an idea already for this and piping, but forgot that is is not just piping. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-ideas/pipe-duct-demolition-keeps-system-designation-and-stays/idi-p/6340415    All elements should keep the connection to their original system, or somehow maintain the relationship to the original system designation.   Within electrical if you demolish something that element is removed from the panel. If you have multiple phases and show elements on the panels at an early phase, you can't do this. So you have to just work around the phasing for those elements. NOT ideal.   If this was handled a bit differently then we could still use the native Revit systems and the native Revit phasing tools.   If a wall can infil after a door is demolished, I'd think something could be done about the phasing on the MEP side of things. We need to be able to create ceilings programmatically - whether using Dynamo or the API. Ideally we would be able to create a ceiling object whose sketch is based on the boundary of a Room. Using Dynamo we can already create floors based on the geometry of the Room. But the API does not provide a way to create new ceilings. This would really help improve our BIM workflow. Show More

I have found that making 3d grids out of extrusions and model text is extremely helpful when navigating 3d models during coordination or reviewing models in any 3d space.  Its easy to make in Revit but not user friendly or great. If this was automatically generated i am sure the people would rejoice!   If grids created in 2d views could automatically be generated and displayed in 3d space (perhaps allow the z elevation to be controlled as a host or work plane?) it would be amazing.  The current option for grids into of navisworks is not very helpful or clear as the linework depends on the perspective that you're viewing the model.   Show More
