Under the "View" tab, there should be a NEW view creation option added = "View by Face". This can be a very flexible way of creating a view based on the plane of that face. For example, when creating a massed form, with angled facades, and one needs to create a view aligned to that face, a normal section or elevation view cannot work for this. This is where the "View by Face" can be one's best friend. It can be created in any view, especially 3D. Instead of the Section or Elevation Family set of views, this new family type can be created in the Project Browser to group these types of views under. When creating such a view, it shall snap perpendicular to the face of an element, and once one clicks to accept that view, a menu could pop up asking the user to confirm a few view options such as distance away from the placement to the face, orientation of the element to that view, and a whole bunch of other settings. These options can be accessed and adjusted later after the view has been created. These views can be adjusted with the same view properties as that of other views, with perhaps some exclusions based on this type of view. It would be an especially valuable tool as we have had many instances whereby, we have had to create views of specially designed roofs aligned to various planes to schedule the panels or detail. With this type of view I would understand that a view indicator, such as that of an elevation head or section head may not be possible, but the ability to create such a view would be amazing and assist immensley in scheduling and documenting such faces of walls, curtain walls, roofs, facades etc.
