How to determine the total length of multiple lines

How to determine the total length of multiple lines

When "tab" selecting a string of lines (egress lines for example) if you select all the lines in that string it should give a value for the overall length of that sting, instead of having to select each individual line and adding the lengths together yourself. this would help with more than egress plans too.

While yes, this is a workaround, many are creating their egress lines and filtering them out of views using a railing type.  You can create beginning dots (balluster) and a finish arrow (another balluster) and tag them with the length.

Also they are easier to sketch and manipulate.  Just need to filter it or put it on a different workset so other folks on your team don't see railings in all their views suddenly.

Hi - Good suggestions. If you'd like to learn how the Revit API can easily do this, please see https://boostyourbim.wordpress.com/2019/03/13/get-total-length-of-multiple-lines-units-conversion/

those aren't bad ideas but I was more looking for this to be directly in the revit program itsself, for the people like my self who do not know how to code. It would be best if this was in the properties box, underneath dimensions, where the length of your single lines show.
