Hatch pattern under floor

Hatch pattern under floor

I'm currently using Revit 2018 in the engineering environment. To maintain our company drawing standards which were produced way back with Autocad and in keeping with engineering norms we find showing the substructure below a slab/floor is impossible to hatch, since Revit hatches are produced at an active cut line level only which generally is above slab/floor. This applies to all brick or concrete walls, RC or steel columns....etc. If there was way (a simple way) to assign a hatch pattern to supporting elements below floors this would be a great advantage and enjoying the benefits of Revit a whole lot more. One could then vastly distinguish the difference between our drawings and that of the architect's who generally more interested in what happens above a floor.

Why not just turn off the architect's floors or make them transparent?

Greetings,

Its not as simple as that....I too have a structural floor (slab) in place.
See attached screen shot.....I have added fill region (green lines) to
mimic traditional hatch pattern to indicatively show rc wall below.
But to do this is a bit tedious and counter productive if changes are
made to the design and the whole process of "hatching - filled region"
starts all over.
I'm of the notion that there should be an additional modify button in
wall properties to reflect hatch under the active cut line or floor!

Hoping for positive feedback.

Regards
Alex

Okay...guess I misunderstood.  Are you using fill patterns to show the materials?  Why not assign a pattern to the material applied to your structure?  There is no reason to use a fill pattern on top of what you are already showing. And you can use the "Show Hidden Objects" command to show walls below your structure.  If you are in a Structure view it should show already as long as your elements are of the Structural category.
