Get rid of 'can't keep elements joined' error when adjusting lines

Never in my 10 year experience working with Revit have I gotten the message can't keep elements joined when trimming lines and thought: "man, I really wish those lines were still joined"...

So I suggest we don't need this pop-up anymore, unless of course many other people do see the use in this.

I COMPLETELY AGREE!   Sometimes it joins on its own, then the error message comes up "can't keep elements joined" when you move it apart -  I didn't ask or want it joined, so it makes no sense to have a self-inflicted error message that you have to stop, look, and react to it.   Another reason to turn the computer sound off when using Revit.

It would be nice to have to have the option in preferences of which type of errors you no longer ever want to see, this would be one of them.

As long time user, I thought Revit is smarter than that when dealing with detail lines (unlike walls' allow/disallow joins), as lines' end points etc are dynamic when one move, stretch, break, trim etc them they automatically respond to our device inputs.

Is that something to do with certain Revit versions? Glitches etc?

Could someone, or PieterL_TM, replicate the scenario you are talking about by posting a short clip?

Quite irritating. I see no reason why "ignore disjoined" can't be a checkbox in an options panel somewhere. We don't need to be prompted every time. In fact, the only time I want to be informed of that happening is if I'm trying to draw something that can *only*  be a closed shape, like a hatch or a callout.

@kent123 It can happen with lines as per the error dialog screenshot but the line error is not a big one for me, it's the complete error handling package that needs a complete review.

How many times have you clicked on the show button and it says no open views are available when there clearly is one available, that's the one that gets my goat.

The revit version I am using is 2026.1

Honestly there is no point having some sort of warning system if it can't show you what what the warning is about.

A good example of this is when it provides a warning that goes "warning 3 objects are about to be deleted but I not going to give you any clue as to what they are or if they are of any real importance"

Instead it should say "warning 3 objects are about to be deleted"

1. the roof on level 2 is about to be deleted as it can no longer be formed, would you like to delete it or disassociate it from its existing restraints

2. the spot level on the roof will be deleted (thank you for the clue)

I completely agree, more than just issues with lines.   The error handling package needs a complete overhaul, it's terrible as it is now.

As a warning for modelled geometry that has been joined the warning is fair enough, but in sketch mode good god it's annoying and agree with OP - have never once wanted the lines to remain joined.
