FROZEN groups

FROZEN groups

Groups are a powerful tool to push masive tasks and thus productivity, but they aren't much stable as they interact with sorrounding elements, and tend to break or duplicate themselves.  This usally happens due to walls' stickyness, so if you want to avoid these issues you can disallow their joining status.  This is a simple solution, good for simple cases, but not enough when you want to grow your groups.

This power could be greatly improved if there was a way to freeze groups, whether by type or instance

In a precast modeling, because of this mentioned grouping disadvantages, we created family instead of group.
Like a assemble and family, if we have controls will be much better

@chandru_kaylimbut families cannot include walls and floors

and assemblies will also interact between internal/external walls, duplicating types.  And they enable miss-updating so it's not a good tool for propagating model changes

This is a great idea, which would save me heaps of time.

Another annoying issue is when I have lines in a detail group. If I drag detail lines outside the group near detail lines inside the group, the group will change (outside of Group Edit mode) because the detail lines want to join to each other.

I like this idea however I think it would be great to be able to not just freeze a group but if necessary replace it and or restore / overwrite groups when reloading them.
