Finishes to structural columns and structural framings

Finishes to structural columns and structural framings

Just as we could do on floors and walls, it would be great to be able to add layers of finishes to structural columns and structural framings. It's not practical any other way I've ever tried to do that.

Thank you!

Why would structural need to show layers on a column?  Unless your thinking of insulation...but column finished fall on the architectural side and we just add furring walls to them.

Paint!  Fireproofing!  Yes.  Currently a beam, for example, can only have one material -- its structural material.  This makes it a nightmare to assign paint finishes to exposed structure for rendering.  This is made even more difficult when working with a linked consultant structural model.  This would also help for scheduling finishes of steel that might be factory finished.

you can't brush off an idea like this one by saying "no one needs it"

For example why would a structural engineer need finish layers onto floors! Or why would he need full doors with their closure not just the openings!

No you need look further as walls join automatically, having the columns, floors ,and beams join automatically is a must for a program the size of Revit by this year of 2021!
