Filters - Filter by parameter instead of by category first

Filters - Filter by parameter instead of by category first

Hi,

in filter creation mode:
instead of manually having to select each category and figure out if the parameter is applied or not to a category, it would be much more efficient, from an end user point of view, to be able to select the parameter from a consolidated list of all the parameter, then get the categories automatically ticked/picked, and then being able to remove some of them if necessary.

  1. filter creation
  2. select parameter from list of all the parameters
  3. remove categories if necessary
  4. (then pick another parameter and so on)

That's the exact reason why we made a pyRevit tool that does almost the same. You can kinda align the category selection of a filter to the specified parameter(s).

@tamas.deri come on, show the ui layout to give autodesk a hint on how to design it 😜

As an OOTB function it should be integrated into the Filters dialog, so our tool is just a workaround made with the lowest effort possible, so it is not something to be considered as an example UX wise. Anyways, here is a short demo to show the workflow how we solve it:

Thanks for sharing

To make the process a bit more straightforward, I would just start from the parameter list and be able to create the filter right away.  (That is now on my todo list ;p)
